Tweet thread by Nick Garfield:

Hi all, bittersweet news today.

The team and I behind
@clockwork_xyz
 have decided to step away from active development of the protocol.

Developers may continue to use the software as written, but we will shut down our nodes on devnet and mainnet as of Oct 31.

The on-chain programs will be frozen, and the code will remain open-source and free to fork on GitHub.

Where Clockwork goes from here is up to you!

The beauty of crypto is that it is truly open and permissionless. If you have a vision for improving the protocol, you have our full endorsement to fork and ship it.

Clockwork was initially conceived out of a need for an on-chain automation primitive.

To that end, the team and I feel successful in completing our original mission and proud of the adoption it has seen.

Ultimately the reason we are stepping away now is simple opportunity cost.

We admittedly see limited commercial upside in continuing to develop the protocol, and have a growing personal interest to explore new opportunities.

The team and I remain ever-grateful to the amazing friends we’ve made throughout the Solana ecosystem over the last few years.

We wish them fortune on their own entrepreneurial journeys, and will continue to root for their shared success.

Going forward, we will be taking a brief (but much needed) break to reset and reconsider where to go from here.

I will be visiting SF/LA this coming month to catch up with friends and founders. If you will be in town, hmu and I would love meetup.

For those who currently rely on Clockwork, we will do what we can to ensure continued service.

Understand this process is an accelerated transition to full decentralization. Its success will depend on you and the will of the Solana community.

For those who wish to migrate to an alternative solution, I highly recommend checking out

@heliuslabs
, and
@gettriggr
.

All of these services are amazing and maintained by extremely talented teams.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported us along this journey. There are far too many of you to tag, but you know who you are.

We owe you a debt of gratitude and look forward to catching up in the comings weeks and months.
